Why I made this

I find personal websites and blogs very compelling. Reading the public writings of friends and acquaintances has led me to encounter versions of them that feel more vulnerable and polished than the people I speak with face-to-face. The polish is expected, but the vulnerability surprises me.

This appears to be a digital manifestation of the “stranger-on-a-train” effect, where people end up disclosing more personal details to strangers in public spaces without intending to. In person, we constantly adjust how we present ourselves based on our company. What I enjoy about personal blogs is getting glimpses of someone’s more uninhibited thoughts that emerges only when addressing an undefined audience with the safe buffer that writing provides.

At this time I don’t know how much technical content I’ll end up publishing versus general reflections, but I think it’ll all be useful to me in one way or another (and hopefully someone else).
